So…What is a supplement? A supplement is any modification or addition a contractor makes to a project after the initial estimate, particularly in insurance-related projects. Or, more simply put, insurance supplements are what needs to be changed after an insurance adjuster’s original claims. These can be items that the adjuster overlooked or admitted or other charges that have developed since the work began. Supplements are often necessary because many adjusters lack roofing & restoration experience, making it challenging for them to accurately estimate claims for their clients.

And, even though contracted repair projects like storm restoration work can take as little as a few days, the insurance process and submitting supplements can take weeks.

This can be especially problematic given that the the roof is a time-sensitive part of the house. If urgent repairs are needed, a contractor responsible for the roof/restoration may not have the time to wait for the insurance company to approve the supplement.
